I think this is a pretty problematic and possibly transphobic opinion that has been worryingly popular lately...

I have the same opinion on this as I do the ‘bisexual trend.’ Even if it is ‘just a phase,’ experimenting with gender and sexuality is perfectly healthy, and no one else has the right to tell you what you are. I do think referring to trans identities as ‘trends’ is transphobic, because it assumes that cisgender is the default and everyone else is just being ‘trendy.’

Long story short: respect each other’s identities, folks.
